Camera Mobile Web casting

The mobile phones of the current generation are getting more sophisticated by the day. Gone are the days when people thought camera camera phones are the peak of mobile technology, today it is possible to do more than ordinary stuff with your mobile phone. You can record videos, listen to the radio, browse the internet, and many more and of course you can make phone calls. Another thing that you can do with your cell phone is webcasting.

What is webcasting? - Webcasting is the transmitting of media (audio or video) over the web using internet streaming concepts so that it can reach at the same time several receivers spread across the internet.

So, now you that you know what webcasting is, let us see how you can use your mobile phones for webcasting. There is a news doing the rounds on internet about a company named ComVu which has released a technology “Livecast” that allows cell phone users to do webcasting with mobile phones. With this method, anybody having a camera cell phone can start broadcasting multimedia on the internet on live mode. For this, there is an application called “PocketCaster” that you will need to install on your cell phone. You can then transmit your streaming multimedia data from the camera on your phone to the Bandwidth Exchange servers of ComVu using the internet.

With the ComVu PocketCaster software, you can just sign into the web based broadcasting service and start transmitting. It is as simple as that. However, sometimes you may need to book the transmission in advance. The ComVu Bandwidth exchange (BE) system robotically generates a link to the webcast and it is transmitted as streaming media to listeners/viewers around the globe.

You can inform your friends and relatives about the news that you are webcasting using a Livecast feature so that they can be ready when it goes live. Also, whatever you broadcast as streaming data gets saved in parallel and is categorized on the servers of ComVu to retrieve for viewing at a later and more convenient time.

To inform people of your impending live webcast, all you have to do is pick up your contacts from the web portal or from the PodCaster application, and the contacts will be informed through SMS/email that you are going to webcast a live streaming media.

If you want to get your broadcasting to be done more professionally with better sound and video quality, you can use the feature from ComVu that allows you to use real camera instead of your camera cell phone. You can do this by installing an application named “Pocketcaster Pro” on your PC and using it as a source for transmitting your streaming audio or video. This can be a sure fire way of coming up with a high quality and professional webcast.

With developments like these in mobile and internet technology, we can surely look forward to the days when everybody in the world can have their own private radio and TV stations. Let’s hope for the best.
